Pissed Off English Lady at the Fabric Market

Today us girls went to he fabric market to see what clothes we could get made. I brought a few dresses with me to get duplicates of but ended up getting just a peacoat instead. I got it for 530 yuan (she wanted 650 yuan) which I guess isn’t really too bad. It’s a long hooded peacoat (which you don’t see much of) made of cashmere lined with silk. That’s about 81 USD. I suppose trying to get a coat like that in the US would cost much more. I would have liked to get one around 360 but none of the shops were going for less than 500. One lady wouldn’t go under 600 and offered me a wool one for 580 instead (though she seemed like she was in a pissed off mood). I had to get Anna to help me bargain since I always get scared of mean Chinese ladies and they’re all pretty mean sounding during the bargaining and then become super nice afterwards. Anyways they took my measurements and I paid 200 up front and am going back on Friday to get it next week.

It was funny though, while me and Anna were browsing there was this English lady having a huge argument with one of the ladies in one of the booths. I think she paid for her stuff before looking at it and when she looked at it she was unhappy with the result. When we came around again she was storming off yelling, “I’m going to report you!” and then came back again a few minutes later with one of the security guards with her going, “I want to report this lady, she took my money”. I really don’t think the guards do any of that stuff though. I’m pretty sure they’re only there to make sure people don’t steal and don’t try to kill each other. Then she made threats saying she knew a lot of people and was going to tell them all not to go to that booth and stormed off cursing. I doubt the lady was too concerned since I’m sure hundreds of tourist pour in there everyday lol.
